Infant and Toddler Program

Infants and Toddlers are full of curiosity and imagination and this is where learning begins.  Our Toddler program turns play into a meaningful learning experience.  The program incorporates Healthy Beginnings: Supporting Development and Learning from Birth through Three Years of Age guidelines published by the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Early Childhood Development in partnership with the Johns Hopkins University School of Education, Center for Technology in Education. Healthy Beginnings features a unique activity planner that provides developmentally appropriate activities to build your child’s skills and promote learning.

The program provides a safe and nurturing environment while responding to each child’s growing interest and needs. Motor coordination is developed through games, puzzles and blocks. Language development is encouraged through songs, plays and stories. The Toddler program focuses on the whole child and teaches your toddler about friendship, understanding his or her emotions, develop physical skills, and creative thinking and problem solving.  Your infant/toddler’s progress is tracked through daily communications using a program called tadpole, which provides notes about what your child learned each day at school.

Because breastfeeding has been shown to provide a multitude of benefits to both infant and mother and because breast feeding mothers and employees need ongoing support from childcare, Little Eggs will:

  • Provide a place to breastfeed or express their milk.
  • A refrigerator will be made available for storage of expressed milk.
  • Sensitivity will be shown to breast feeding mothers and their babies.
  • Staff will be trained in handling human milk.

In addition, Little Eggs will provide information, when requested, on breast feeding, including the names of area resources should problems or questions arise. In addition, positive promotion of breast feeding will be on display in the center. Please feel free to contact the front office for more information.
